COURSE FORMATS

The Simeon Course on Biblical Exposition is an online training mechanism singularly focused on the practice of preaching and teaching of God’s Word. There are three formats for the Course.

Individual Format
The individual format is a more individualized, self-directed study track. It is open to any highly-motivated person interested in teaching the Bible. It includes access to many of the same features at the group format, including:

--Online message boards
--Written study guides
--Video instructions
--Sermon demonstrations

Individuals who wish to take the course for credit can join an ad hoc group. Such groups will have all of the features of the group format as described below.

Group Format
The group format is open to groups from churches and ministry organizations or individuals who want to take the course in network groups. This track includes:

--Access to the course materials
--Collaboratively working on assignments
--Giving critical feedback on each other’s work
--Video-conferencing and message boards
--Engagement in church ministry

Participants on this track also have the option of having their work graded by Simeon Course instructors and then submitting it for graduate credit through a partnership with Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Ideal candidates for this track are 1) at the beginning of their training but headed into full-time ministry or 2) wanting training with a specialized focus on ‘preaching.’

The idea is that we have students in our classrooms but also working in churches. They will learn in the classroom but then have a practical laboratory where they can immediately practice what they are learning. The class work will focus primarily on those subjects that are most necessary for preacher/teacher and serve as a bridge to more formal seminary style classes. The result will be a coherent, cohesive and integrated setting for the training of preachers and teachers.

For groups who cannot meet in person, we have can supply multi-party video-conferencing. *Credit is dependent on payment of tuition and successful completion of the course.

Corporate License The Simeon Course is intended to be as flexible as is helpful to groups working on training for biblical exposition. And so, the Corporate access scheme is intended for churches and organizations which wish to have access to our course for the purpose of folding our content into their own training schemes. Such access would not be done a 'per student' basis, but rather give access to the content to the leaders of the third-party training scheme for their use in the third-party training scheme. A corporate license, therefore, would include the rights to use the material but not demand that the participants access it through the Simeon Course website(s). This format would also open up the possibility of accessing the course content by means other than are available to general students (e.g. we could arrange to produce Blu-Ray or standard definition DVDs of the course material). This format is not eligible for graduate credit. This license will also include the consulting services of the Simeon Course on Biblical Exposition and Charles Simeon Trust staff. The cost will depend on the size of the course, the intended application of the material, the duration of the transfer of material period, and the depth of consultation required.
